Over 100 residents from aged care facilities across the district, including 27 from Cooinda, attended our Annual Spring Social Dance, Thursday 26th October.
Highlights of the dance were the Ballroom and Rock’n Roll demonstrations and entertainer, Denis Tucker, who kept the dance floor busy. A special thanks to our Health and Wellbeing Team for all their work, our volunteers, MC, Patty O’Brien and the Swanpool Catering Team, who served a delicious lunch to everyone in attendance.
“Cooinda’s Annual Spring Social Dance is a favourite event on our resident’s calendar each year,” said Ms Margaret Aldous, Cooinda’s chief executive and director of nursing. “We work hard to ensure the annual dance continues, as it is a great opportunity for the residents from aged care facilities across the district to meet up, many of whom have known each other for years.”
“Social activities, such as singing and dancing, have also been proven in research to be very beneficial to the physical and emotional wellbeing of people,” said Ms Aldous. “We notice a renewed vibrancy in our residents in the days leading up to and after the event, which is great to see.”
