At Cooinda, we are embarking on an exciting journey to enhance the lives of our residents through our Stage 2 development. This ambitious project includes the construction of new residents’ rooms, cafe, a well-stocked library, a vibrant activity and craft room, hairdressing salon, offices, meeting rooms and inviting communal spaces designed to foster a sense of community and wellbeing for our residents.

Your generous donations will contribute significantly to this transformative development, ensuring that every corner of Cooinda is touched by your kindness. Moreover, your support extends beyond bricks and mortar; it enriches our lifestyle program, bringing joy and engagement to our residents through a variety of activities tailored to their interests and needs.

Diana Chomley was a dedicated nurse and counsellor whose career spanned decades of service, compassion, and advocacy. Starting
as a Registered Nurse at Hampstead General Hospital in 1966, Diana later immigrated to Australia, where her talents and dedication made a lasting impact across many health service providers.

Her career highlights include roles at Royal North Shore Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and Seymour Hospital, where she served for 16 years as a Senior Registered Nurse. Diana also embraced roles such as District Nursing Diabetic Educator and Clinical Tutor at RMIT, sharing her expertise with future healthcare professionals. In 1997, Diana transitioned into community health at Benalla Health, where she continued to advocate for those in need with exceptional skill and compassion.

Later in life, Diana called Cooinda her home, maintaining her passion she continued to show an interest in staff, their education and those undertaking placements at Cooinda.

To honor Diana’s remarkable legacy, her husband, Angus, has established the Diana Chomley Scholarship Fund. This is an annual fund dedicated to advancing the education of Cooinda’s nursing and care staff, ensuring Diana’s passion for learning and excellence in care continues for years to come.
